PORTFOLIO > SHADED COURTYARD
This tiny, shady courtyard was proposed as a response to the clients’ brief that the formerly uninviting space be transformed into a secluded outdoor room, as pleasurable to look down upon as to be in.

The property is part of a modern development and the architectural quality and clean lines had to be carried through into the garden. The use and combination of black limestone together with sandstone walling gives a contemporary feel using natural materials.

The planting is low maintenance and predominantly evergreen, relying on contrasts of foliage and texture to provide interest.

The garden was planted in May 2005 and these images were taken in July 2005.
